What determines workload?
Planyway uses two main values:
Scheduled workload — How much work is planned for a team member during a selected period.
Available capacity — How many hours that person is available to work during the same period.
Scheduled workload depends on task estimates, scheduled dates, and the selected distribution mode.
Available capacity depends on working hours, weekends, holidays, and vacations.
How capacity is calculated
By default, a standard working day has 8 working hours.
You can customize this using workload schemes.
For example, if someone works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, their weekly capacity is 40 hours before accounting for holidays or time off.
If they take one full day off, their available capacity for that week becomes 32 hours.
Understand workload indicators
Workload indicators appear above scheduled tasks in Workload view when Capacity is enabled. They show how many hours are planned for the selected period.
When the planned workload exceeds available capacity, the indicator is highlighted in red. This helps you spot potential resource conflicts without reviewing every task individually.
What affects the calculation?
Workload changes automatically when you:
Update task estimates.
Move or resize scheduled work items.
Change workload distribution mode.
Update working hours.
Add holidays or vacations.
Reassign or split scheduled work.
