Configure country holiday schemes
Holiday schemes automatically exclude public holidays from capacity calculations.
To configure a holiday scheme:
Open Settings → Work schedule.
Find the holiday scheme settings.
Choose the country where the team member works.
Apply the appropriate scheme.
Planyway uses the selected country's public holidays when calculating availability. This is particularly useful for distributed teams working in different countries.
Create custom holidays
In addition to country-based public holidays, you can add custom holidays to account for company-specific days off or regional holidays that aren't included in the default holiday scheme.
Custom holidays are useful for:
Company-wide days off
Regional or local holidays
Additional non-working days
Special company events when employees aren't expected to work
How to add a custom holiday
Open Settings → Work schedule.
Navigate to the Holiday schemes section.
Click Add holiday.
Enter the holiday name and select its date.
Choose whether it’s Fixed or Floating.
Save your changes.
The custom holiday will be included in the selected holiday scheme and taken into account when calculating available capacity.
Add vacations and days off
You can also create individual time-off entries directly on the Workload timeline.
Open Workload view.
Click the timeline on the desired date.
Open the Day off tab.
Enter a name, such as "Vacation" or "Sick leave."
Select the dates and assignee.
Click Create.
The time-off entry appears on the timeline.
How time off affects workload
When a team member has a vacation or day off, the corresponding working hours are excluded from their capacity.
For example, a person with a 40-hour working week who takes two full working days off has 24 hours of capacity remaining that week.
If their scheduled workload exceeds that amount, Planyway can highlight the overload.
Important notes
Vacation and Day off cards are available only in Workload view.
Holiday schemes and individual time-off entries both affect capacity.
Workload is recalculated when availability changes.
