Dependencies in Planyway help you visualize and manage task relationships, so you can plan team workload more efficiently and react quickly to schedule changes.
Create Dependencies
You can create dependencies directly on the Timeline or Workload view:
Hover over a task until the small dot appears on the edge.
Drag the line to another task to establish a dependency.
The link will be created in Jira as blocks / is blocked by.
Alternatively, you can also create and edit dependencies inside the Jira issue dialog.
Note: Dependencies cannot be created for milestones, sprints, releases, work logs, or vacation cards.
View and Manage Dependencies
Dependencies are displayed as arrows connecting related tasks.
If dependent tasks overlap in dates, the arrow turns red, indicating a scheduling conflict.
Multiple dependencies can be added to a single task.
You can toggle visibility in the View settings → Dependencies.
Note: If you create a dependency while visibility is disabled, the setting will automatically switch on.
Edit or Remove Dependencies
To edit or change the type, open the Jira issue dialog.
To remove a dependency, open the Jira dialog, hover over the dependent task, and click the Unlink work item (X) icon. You can also delete it directly from the issue card.
Once removed, the arrow will disappear from Planyway timeline.
